Broker – Job Spec (Capiteq Finance)
Role Summary
Job Title: Commercial Finance Broker & BDM
Location: Manchester
Contract: Full-time, permanent (employed or self-employed)
We are building out our commercial finance brokerage arm from Manchester and are hiring a Broker & BDM to originate, structure, and place deals across development finance, business loans, bridging loans, short-term lending, and commercial mortgages. Beyond origination, this person will take the lead in building out Capiteq's external lender panel sourcing, appointing, and managing lender relationships alongside our own-book lending capacity effectively running the brokerage desk day-to-day.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the build-out of Capiteq's external lender panel across development finance, bridging, business loans, and commercial mortgages - sourcing, appointing, and negotiating terms of business with new lenders.
- Own and run the brokerage desk day-to-day: coordinating case flow, panel relationships, and deal placement, as the senior point of contact.
- Originate new business across development finance, commercial bridging, business loans, short-term lending, and commercial mortgages, via introducers, direct enquiries, and self-generated pipeline.
- Assess borrower requirements and structure the most appropriate finance solution, balancing speed, cost, and lender fit.
- Package and present cases to lenders — including Capiteq's own-book lending arm and panel lenders — managing the process from initial enquiry through to completion.
- Negotiate terms with lenders on the client's behalf, securing competitive rates and workable structures, and monitor panel service levels and pricing benchmarks.
- Maintain and grow a network of introducers (accountants, solicitors, property professionals, other brokers) to generate consistent deal flow.
- Keep accurate, compliant records of client interactions, recommendations, and deal progression on the CRM.
- Stay current on lender criteria, market pricing, and regulatory requirements across the relevant finance products.
- Work closely with Capiteq's credit and underwriting function on own-book placements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Existing network of introducers and/or a transferable client book is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of the specialist and short-term lending market: typical products, lender criteria, and pricing across the panel.

- CeMAP, CeRER, or equivalent qualification an advantage; study support provided where required.
