About the role
We are looking for a Commercial Finance Business Partner to support the Commercial Finance Director in executing SMG’s commercial finance agenda, ensuring that our client teams are effectively supported to deliver against both revenue and profitability targets.
You will work closely with Partnership Directors, client teams and operational stakeholders to ensure that revenue opportunities are appropriately commercialised, with clear pricing, robust financial modelling and well-structured contractual terms; and play an active role in supporting commercial decision making, providing insight, challenge and recommendations to improve outcomes.
You will also support the development of the tools, processes and analysis used to understand performance across the business, helping to improve visibility of revenue, margin and client profitability. As we build out our FP&A capability, this role will work closely with that function to ensure a strong link between financial performance, commercial decision making and business execution.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
