Interim Commercial Finance Director

4 to 6 Month Interim Contract

£750–£850 per day

Reading Area – 3 Days per Week On-Site

ASAP Start

We're supporting a large, highly recognisable business that is looking to appoint an experienced Interim Commercial Finance Director during an important period of change and transformation.

This is a senior, high-impact role operating at the heart of the business, partnering closely with executive and operational leadership across multiple business units. You'll combine strong commercial finance and FP&A capability with overall financial leadership, helping the business understand performance, improve decision-making and maintain strong financial governance.

The environment is fast-paced, commercial and people-focused, so we're looking for someone who can build credibility quickly, challenge constructively and turn financial information into clear actions for the wider business.

The Role

Operating as a senior member of the finance leadership team, you'll take responsibility for commercial finance, performance management, planning and forecasting while maintaining oversight of financial reporting, controls and governance.

You'll partner senior stakeholders to understand what's really driving performance, identify risks and opportunities early, and ensure finance is actively influencing the direction of the business rather than simply reporting the numbers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a senior finance partner to commercial and operational leadership teams, providing insight, challenge and decision support
  • Lead performance management across multiple business areas, connecting financial results with the underlying commercial and operational drivers
  • Provide financial leadership around pricing, investment, resource allocation, customer profitability and strategic decision-making
  • Own and improve budgeting, forecasting and longer-term planning processes
  • Maintain a clear forward-looking view across revenue, margin, costs, working capital, capex and cash
  • Lead monthly performance reporting, ensuring management information clearly communicates what's happening, why and what action is required
  • Develop reporting and dashboards that improve visibility of performance, trends, risks and opportunities
  • Deliver commercial analysis across customers, contracts, projects, costs and profitability to identify opportunities for improved performance
  • Support business cases, transformation projects and strategic initiatives with robust financial modelling and recommendations
  • Maintain oversight of financial reporting, controls, cash management, statutory requirements and audit
  • Lead, coach and develop finance teams across accounting, operations and business partnering

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
