Rainford Berry is recruiting a qualified Commercial Finance Director

Rainford Berry is recruiting a qualified Commercial Finance Director for a substantial privately owned group spanning contracting, manufacturing, logistics and warehousing. This senior leadership role suits a naturally curious finance leader who can connect finance and operations, improve management information and provide practical, forward-looking insight that drives better decisions and performance.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Finance Director and partnering with executive and operational leaders, you will lead the group’s commercial finance agenda. You will investigate how the business performs by collecting and testing data, analysing underlying drivers and converting complex findings into detailed, practical information. Your insight will support strategic and operational decisions, strengthen accountability and improve commercial, cash and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the group commercial finance strategy across contracting and CVR, manufacturing, warehousing and logistics.
  • Build and develop a high-performing commercial finance team combining financial discipline, operational understanding and curiosity.
  • Own timely weekly and monthly reporting, including executive dashboards, forecasts, commentary and recommended actions.
  • Collect, reconcile and analyse data from multiple systems, challenging gaps, inconsistencies and unsupported assumptions.
  • Translate financial and operational analysis into practical information that enables earlier, better decisions and improved performance.
  • Improve stock, inventory and working-capital management through insight on forecasts, ageing, risk, cash exposure and corrective action.
  • Analyse manufacturing output, cost, labour, stock and margin drivers to identify efficiency and profitability opportunities.
  • Embed transport, fleet-utilisation and warehousing measures that link operational activity to financial outcomes.
  • Challenge project and CVR reporting to improve forecast accuracy, risk visibility and commercial accountability.
  • Develop trusted Power BI reporting, automation and data governance, and ensure insight leads to measurable action.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
