Citadel Source is delighted to be retained by a market-leading organisation to recruit a new Commercial Finance Director. This is a pivotal senior leadership opportunity, joining a high-performing business at an exciting stage of growth and playing a critical role in shaping commercial strategy, driving profitability and supporting long-term value creation.

The Client

Our client is a well-established, multi-division organisation operating across a diverse range of revenue streams and long-term commercial partnerships. Backed by a strong reputation within its sector, the business continues to invest in growth, innovation and operational excellence. With ambitious plans for the coming years, the organisation is focused on enhancing commercial performance, expanding key partnerships and leveraging data-driven decision-making to support strategic growth. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with an experienced executive leadership team and have a genuine impact on business performance.

The Role

Reporting to the CFO, the Commercial Finance Director will lead Commercial Finance, FP&A and business partnering activities across the organisation. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, you will translate financial insight into commercial action, ensuring the business maximises revenue, profitability and return on investment.

This is a highly commercial role, blending strategic influence with hands-on leadership. You will oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, investment appraisal and contract evaluation whilst partnering closely with operational, commercial and executive stakeholders to drive growth and performance.

Alongside core commercial finance responsibilities, you will play a leading role in developing reporting capabilities, enhancing forecasting accuracy, strengthening decision-making frameworks and driving automation and continuous improvement initiatives across finance and the wider business.

About You

We are seeking a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with significant post-qualified experience in a senior commercial finance leadership role.

You will possess a strong track record of commercial partnering, financial planning and strategic decision support within a complex, multi-revenue-stream organisation. Experience evaluating major contracts, tenders, investments and commercial opportunities will be essential, alongside the ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders constructively.

You will combine excellent analytical capability with strong leadership skills, bringing the credibility and commercial mindset required to operate effectively at Executive and Board level. Experience leading transformation, systems improvements or automation initiatives would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Commercial Finance, FP&A and business partnering activities across the organisation
  • Partner with the CFO and senior leadership team to deliver commercial and financial strategy
  • Own annual budgeting, rolling forecasting and long-range planning processes
  • Provide commercial insight, scenario analysis and financial modelling to support decision-making
  • Lead evaluation of pricing strategies, tenders, contracts and major commercial opportunities
  • Support investment appraisal, capital allocation and strategic growth initiatives
  • Deliver insightful management reporting, KPI dashboards and Board-level presentations
  • Drive margin enhancement through profitability analysis, pricing optimisation and cost initiatives
  • Partner with operational and commercial leaders on business cases and strategic projects
  • Strengthen commercial governance, risk management and financial controls
  • Champion data, BI reporting, process improvement and finance automation initiatives
  • Lead, develop and mentor a high-performing commercial finance team, building future capability and succession plans
