Our Commercial Finance Graduate Scheme
Our Commercial Finance Graduate Scheme is designed for graduates who want more than a typical first job. It's a three-year opportunity to build a broad understanding of Finance and the wider business, gain hands-on experience across different areas and work towards a professional accounting qualification of your choice – CIMA or ACCA.
This year, we're looking for just one exceptional Finance graduate to join us. Every year we receive applications from talented graduates across the UK, but we're looking for someone with the curiosity, resilience and drive to stand out from the crowd and become one of our future Finance leaders.
Why Mitchells & Butlers?
We're a people-first business, and our Finance teams are at the heart of how we make good commercial decisions.
One thing our graduates consistently tell us is that it's the people who make Mitchells & Butlers different. From your first day, you'll be surrounded by supportive colleagues, approachable leaders and a graduate community who want to see you succeed.
You'll never be "just the graduate." You'll be trusted to contribute, encouraged to share your ideas and supported to develop through meaningful experiences that make a genuine difference to our business.
Along the way you'll experience the breadth of one of the UK's biggest hospitality businesses, working across different Finance teams, brands and business challenges. From reporting and performance to pricing, property, procurement and guest insights, you'll see how Finance helps shape the decisions that keep our business financially sound.
Who thrives on this scheme?
From the outset, you'll be trusted with meaningful work, contributing to live projects that influence our financial performance and wider business. We'll expect you to think commercially, ask great questions, build relationships and take ownership of your development.
The scheme is fast-paced and challenging. You'll be stretched, supported and encouraged to step outside your comfort zone, because that's where the biggest learning happens.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Hear from one of our graduates
“M&B was a really approachable scheme; it was something where I could be really interested in finance, but I could relate to food and drink. Within the finance team, there are a lot of elements which I get to branch out into. I have experienced reporting, including sales and volumes performance, and Pricing, including the pricing cycle and menu development in my first year, and I'm excited to explore more.”
The scheme has given me the opportunity to understand how Finance supports a hospitality business while building my confidence and experience across different areas of the function.
What I love most is the variety. You get to explore different parts of Finance, work with people across the business and see how the numbers connect to the decisions we make every day.
