If you’re a qualified accountant with a strong commercial finance background and the confidence to influence senior leaders, this could be your next career move.

This is a commercially focused role for someone who can look beyond the numbers, understand what is driving performance and help the business make better decisions. You’ll need proven experience partnering with Sales, Marketing and Operations, providing constructive challenge and turning complex financial information into clear commercial action.

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance, you’ll work closely with senior leaders across Boots Hearingcare. You’ll support decisions relating to store performance, promotions, investment, cost control and wider commercial initiatives.

Due to the face-to-face nature of the role, you must be based in the Northwest or within a practical commuting distance of our Llandudno office. The role follows a hybrid working pattern, with three days per week spent either in the office or visiting business partners across the Northwest & Occasionally the Midlands

The role

As Commercial Finance Manager, you’ll provide the commercial insight, financial challenge and business partnering support behind key decisions across Boots Hearingcare.

This is not a purely technical accounting or reporting position. You’ll need to understand the commercial drivers behind the numbers, identify risks and opportunities, and confidently influence decisions at a senior level.

You'll:

  • Act as a trusted finance business partner to senior leaders across Sales, Marketing and Operations.
  • Translate complex financial data into clear commercial insight, recommendations and actions.
  • Own store P&L reporting and use performance trends to identify risks, opportunities and areas requiring intervention.
  • Assess performance across stores, regions, promotions and wider commercial initiatives.
  • Lead the preparation and challenge of weekly forecasts, ensuring assumptions are commercially sound and supported by evidence.
  • Support annual budgeting, strategic planning and longer-term commercial forecasting.
  • Develop robust financial models, scenario analysis and business cases to inform investment and operational decisions.
  • Evaluate the commercial effectiveness of promotions, cost-saving activity and business initiatives.
  • Challenge stakeholders constructively and hold the business accountable for financial performance.
  • Improve commercial reporting and develop self-service tools that give leaders clearer and faster access to information.
  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting, improve processes and strengthen data quality.
  • Act as deputy to the Head of Commercial Finance, representing Finance in senior meetings and business projects when required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
