Commercial Finance Manager
Location: Sheffield
About Hydropulse
Hydropulse, a wholly owned subsidiary of ITM Power Plc will build, own and operate decentralised green hydrogen production plants using ITM’s modular NEPTUNE technology.
We are looking for a Commercial Finance Manager who will operate as a key business partner, providing financial insight and commercial modelling to support strategic decision making.
The role is hands-on and forward thinking and will support the company in both the UK and the EU.
Your responsibilities
- Provide commercial insight and financial modelling, pricing and margin to support decision making on commercial opportunities
- Lead on financial matters for tenders and commercial proposals
- Develop and own robust financial business models including financing, risk, pricing and margins
- Support cash management and working capital
- Support and challenge the Sales & Business Development, Product Management and Project Management teams in the compilation of high quality, robust cost estimation for projects for review and approval by executive leadership
- Work with the finance team to ensure accurate and concise revenue recognition. Once this has been approved, ensure that these revenue recognition criteria are followed and tracked
- Manage and ensure effective cash collection processes for commercial projects, ensuring achieved milestones are invoiced in a prompt manner and working with project managers to ensure these are issued in an appropriate way to customers
- Lead the preparation and commercial projects budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans, this is to include forecast project completion dates and cash flows
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies and relevant accounting standards in commercial finance processes
- Translate complex financial analysis into clear executive level insights and recommendations
- Monitor post-delivery product performance against plan, identifying variances, risks and corrective actions
- Stay up to date on industry trends, regulatory changes and best practices in commercial finance and investment management to ensure compliance and to continuously improve commercial frameworks, tools and reporting to support faster, better decision-making

- Masters degree in a related field
- Proven experience, 5-10 years gained in a financial environment (commercial, controlling, accounting).
- Knowledge of UK and German GAAP and relevant international accounting standards
- Technical understanding and strong commercial acumen
- Ability to work collaboratively and to achieve solutions to challenging problems
- Can adapt and flex approach to a fast changing and growth environment
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification preferable
- Business fluent in spoken and written English
- German language skills preferable
- Motivated and driven self-starter, with strong sense of responsibility and accountability
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment
