Commercial Financial Controller
PE-Backed PR / Communications Business | London | £90,000–£110,000 + Bonus
We are partnering with a fast-growing, PE-backed Media business to recruit a Commercial Financial Controller. This is a broad, high-profile role that will sit close to the Finance Director and senior leadership team, combining financial control, commercial finance, and team leadership.
You’ll take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and lead and develop a finance team, while also getting out into the business and partnering with senior stakeholders to improve performance, profitability, and decision-making.
This is definitely not a role for someone who wants to sit behind a spreadsheet. The business is entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and ambitious, and they want someone who can bring strong financial discipline while also understanding the commercial drivers of a people-led business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
