Commercial Gas Engineer Role within an Expanding Mechanical and Electrical Contractor
Work across commercial and education sites, predominantly in Teesside and Northallerton
Up to £48,000 basic salary, with opportunities to develop into supervisory, quotations or project roles
About the Company
Our client is an established mechanical and electrical contractor providing installation, maintenance and repair services for commercial buildings, including schools, universities and commercial kitchens.
Following recent contract wins, they are expanding their engineering team and seeking an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to support their growing workload.
Role Overview: Commercial Gas Engineer
As a Commercial Gas Engineer, you will carry out maintenance, fault finding and repairs on commercial heating systems, alongside installation work.
The wider team works across equipment including boilers, air conditioning units and air source heat pumps.

Most work will be concentrated around Teesside and Northallerton, with coverage extending north to Newcastle and occasional travel further afield, including Bolton.
This position would suit an engineer who enjoys varied, hands-on work and brings strong installation skills alongside servicing and repair experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Service and maintain commercial boilers and associated heating equipment
- Investigate faults, identify underlying issues and complete effective repairs
- Carry out heating installations, equipment replacements and system upgrades
- Complete relevant safety checks and maintain accurate service documentation
- Work across schools, universities, commercial kitchens and other customer premises
- Communicate clearly with customers and the repairs and maintenance team
- Participate in an on-call rota, typically one week in every five or six

Key Requirements
- Relevant commercial gas qualifications
- Level 3 qualification in Heating and Ventilation, or equivalent
- Ideally five years' relevant experience, although candidates with three years will be considered
- Strong maintenance, fault-finding and repair skills
- Experience installing commercial heating equipment
- COMCAT and commercial laundry qualifications would be advantageous
- IPAF and PASMA certifications would be beneficial
- A practical, reliable approach and confidence working at customer sites
Package
Salary: Up to £48,000 depending on experience
On-call allowance: £200 per week when on rota
Optional overtime available
25 days' holiday plus bank holidays
