An established facilities management business is looking for an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join its mobile engineering team, covering commercial sites across Birmingham, Telford, Shrewsbury, Stafford and the surrounding areas. The role combines commercial gas maintenance with wider HVAC and mechanical building services, providing a varied workload across a long–term portfolio of sites. The basic salary is 46,121.73, with a 2,535 annual standby payment, giving a package of 48,656 before overtime. With paid travel time, regular overtime and call–out opportunities, engineers can realistically earn 60,000+.
The Role
As a Mobile Commercial Gas Engineer, you'll be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance across a range of commercial properties throughout Birmingham, Telford, Shrewsbury and Stafford. You'll carry out servicing, fault finding and repairs on commercial gas and heating systems, alongside associated HVAC and mechanical plant. You'll manage your own workload and diary, working independently across your allocated sites while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on commercial gas and heating systems
- Service, maintain and fault find on commercial boilers and associated heating plant
- Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical and HVAC equipment
- Maintain equipment including commercial boilers, pumps, fans, Air Handling Units and Fan Coil Units
- Complete routine servicing, inspections and statutory maintenance
- Carry out fault diagnosis and repairs to minimise equipment downtime
- Complete maintenance records, service reports and compliance documentation accurately
- Identify defects and provide technical recommendations where required
- Carry out plant surveys and report issues requiring further work
- Work safely and in line with current health and safety legislation and industry standards
- Build professional relationships with customers and site teams
- Participate in a 1 in 6 standby rota and attend emergency call–outs when required
What You'll Need
- Previous experience as a Commercial Gas Engineer, Commercial Heating Engineer, HVAC Engineer or Building Services Engineer
- Current ACS Commercial Gas qualifications, ideally including:
- COCN1
- CIGA1
- CORT1
- ICPN1
- CDGA1
- TPCP1
- TPCP1A
- Strong commercial gas fault–finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience servicing and maintaining commercial heating systems
- Knowledge of associated HVAC and mechanical building services equipment
- Ability to work independently across a mobile region
- Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces where required
- Good communication and customer–facing skills
- Full UK driving licence
