Starting Salary: £30,000 per annum (Subject to review)
Location: Regents House | Wolseley rd. Woburn Industrial Est | Kempston | MK42 7JY
Working hours per week: Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, 37.5 hours per week. Occasional weekend site work will be classed as overtime.
Start date: April 2027

The Amey Rail Commercial Southern Region team provides commercial and contract management support for rail infrastructure projects across Network Rail’s Southern Region, ensuring effective cost control, procurement, financial governance, and successful project delivery while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.
What You Will Do
A Commercial Graduate within the rail sector plays a key role in the successful delivery of infrastructure, signalling, electrification, track, civils and multidisciplinary projects from tender stage through to final account. Working as an integral member of the project delivery team, they actively contribute to the safe, efficient and effective delivery of a diverse portfolio of construction projects by providing commercial leadership, contractual guidance and financial control. Responsibilities include managing NEC and Network Rail contracts, administering change and compensation events, forecasting costs and revenues, managing risk and opportunity, overseeing subcontractor accounts, ensuring contractual compliance, and maximising commercial performance. The role requires close collaboration with project managers, engineers, planners, procurement teams, suppliers and clients to drive value, support informed decision-making, resolve commercial issues, and ensure projects are delivered in accordance with programme, budget and client expectations. In addition, Commercial Managers help identify and secure future opportunities, build strong client relationships, and promote continuous improvement and commercial best practice across the wider business.
- Implement commercial processes for cost capture, valuation, procurement and reporting
- Submit in a timely manner application for payment and agree accounts the Clients/Contracts
- Ensure maximum recovery of all contractual entitlements
- Assist in the preparation of commercial reports including monthly Cost Value Reconciliation financial report, cash-flows, budgets and forecasts
- Liaise with Operations Teams to ascertain costs and value are correctly coded
- Management of Subcontractor accounts in line with agreed subcontract agreement and Amey processes for certification, payment and liability
- Manage all aspects of subcontract procurement
- Provide commercial support as required / directed

What You Will Bring
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, keen to learn and ready to develop their career within a supportive and collaborative team.
Minimum 2:2 degree in quantity surveying, commercial management or a related discipline. Full UK driving licence.
Behavioural competencies
- Good commercial and financial acumen.
- Computer and excel literate.
- Developed written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
