Company Overview
Alloyed is a young venture-funded company of about 300 world-class metallurgists, engineers, and software developers working across the UK, Japan and the US to build the future of advanced metal components and systems. To do this, Alloyed uses proprietary software packages which combine advanced machine learning and physical modelling to invent better alloys, devise better ways to process them, and design better 3D-printed components and assemblies.
Alloyed is composed of a range of divisions, enabling metal technology from composition to systems:
Core Technology: Alloyed's internal research and technology hub, focused on creating the new alloys, manufacturing methods, digital tools and intellectual property that will power the company's future products and capabilities.
Innovation Services: Work directly with customers to develop, optimise and qualify materials and manufacturing processes for demanding aerospace, defence, energy and industrial applications.
Component Engineering: Design, manufacture and validate production-ready components, turning material and process innovations into high-performance hardware for customer applications.
Argive: Develop and manufacture complete microturbine engine systems under ambitious timelines and customer expectations, enabled by Alloyed’s software stack, proprietary Alloys and AM processing capabilities.
Role Overview
Alloyed is seeking ambitious engineering graduates who want to build a career beyond a purely technical engineering pathway. The Commercial Graduate programme is designed to develop the business leaders of the future by combining an engineer’s analytical approach with broad exposure to the commercial, financial, people and technology functions that enable a fast-growing engineering company to succeed.
You will complete a series of rotations of approximately six months across key areas of the business. Each placement will give you meaningful responsibility, exposure to senior decision-making and the opportunity to contribute to live priorities. You will build a rounded understanding of how Alloyed develops strategy, allocates resources, supports its people, wins work and scales its operations.

The programme is intended to be flexible. Rotations will reflect business needs, development priorities and your strengths, and may include the areas below as well as other teams across Alloyed.
Programme Rotations
Divisional Finance & Strategy: Partner with operational and engineering teams on planning, performance analysis, investment cases, commercial decisions and divisional strategy.
Central Finance: Develop experience in management information, budgeting and forecasting, financial control, cash management, reporting and company-wide decision support.
Knowledge & People: Contribute to organisational development, talent and capability initiatives, knowledge-sharing, internal communications and projects that help Alloyed attract, develop and retain exceptional people.
Business Development: Support market and customer analysis, opportunity development, proposals, commercial modelling, partnerships and the translation of technical capability into compelling customer value.
IT and Business Systems: Help improve the tools, data and processes that underpin an efficient and scalable business, working with users to define needs and support implementation.
Other Rotations: Undertake placements or projects in other areas where broader exposure will support your development and Alloyed’s priorities.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of clearly defined projects and deliver high-quality outputs within each rotation.
- Analyse complex technical, commercial and financial information and turn it into clear insights and practical recommendations.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, commercial and corporate teams to solve cross-functional business problems.
- Prepare concise reports, presentations, business cases and management information for a range of audiences.
- Support planning, prioritisation and performance improvement initiatives across the business.
- Build effective relationships across Alloyed and develop a strong understanding of its technologies, markets, customers and operating model.
- Approach each rotation with curiosity, adaptability and a willingness to learn quickly.
- Contribute actively to Alloyed’s culture and identify opportunities to improve how the business works.

Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering discipline, normally at 2:1 level or above.
- A clear motivation to broaden your career beyond pure engineering and develop as a commercial and business leader.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability, with the confidence to work with quantitative and qualitative information.
- Ability to understand complex technical subjects and communicate them clearly to non-specialist audiences.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
- Commercial curiosity and an interest in how strategy, finance, people, customers, technology and operations combine to create business value.
- Adaptable, organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and take ownership of your work.
- High standards of accuracy, integrity and professional judgement.
- A proactive mindset and enthusiasm for working in a dynamic, fast-growing environment.
Desired Skills
- Experience gained through an internship, placement, student enterprise, consultancy project, society leadership or other position of responsibility.
- Familiarity with financial analysis, data analysis, business cases, project management or commercial decision-making.
- Confidence using Excel and PowerPoint; experience with data visualisation, programming or business systems would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of, or interest in, advanced manufacturing, materials, aerospace, energy, defence, automotive or other technology-led industries.
- Evidence of leadership potential, including influencing others, bringing structure to ambiguity and delivering through collaboration.
