Commercial Growth Director
Internet Marketplace | B2C | Digital Growth
Own the number. Own the customer outcome. Build the next phase of growth.
We’re partnering with a major consumer internet marketplace to appoint a Commercial Growth Director into a newly created, highly influential leadership role.
We’re looking for a commercially minded business leader who can take ownership of a strategically important area of the marketplace and run it with the mindset and accountability of a MD. You’ll own the commercial trajectory, customer outcomes and growth strategy for your area, bringing together Product, Technology, Data, Marketing, CRM, Commercial and Operations to make it happen.
The opportunity
You’ll take responsibility for a major customer proposition within a high-volume digital marketplace used by millions of consumers.
Your challenge will be to understand the customer, understand the economics and identify where the biggest opportunities exist to drive sustainable growth. That could mean increasing customer frequency and retention, improving conversion, developing new propositions, increasing lifetime value, improving the customer journey or finding completely new ways to monetise and grow the platform.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You’ll have significant freedom over how you achieve those outcomes. Success won't be measured by features shipped or roadmaps delivered. It will be measured by the commercial and customer impact you create.
Day-to-day, you will have genuine accountability for:
- The strategy and commercial trajectory of your area
- Revenue, profit and long-term customer value
- Customer acquisition, engagement, frequency and retention
- The end-to-end customer proposition and experience
- Investment decisions and commercial trade-offs
- Identifying and validating new growth opportunities
- Building a clear, outcome-led growth plan
- Mobilising senior teams across the organisation to deliver it
- Measuring performance and demonstrating tangible commercial impact
The person we are looking for
You could currently be a Commercial Director, Growth Director, General Manager, Business Unit Director, Proposition Director, Customer Director or a commercially focused Product leader. What matters more than your title is what you've actually owned and delivered.
Experience within a high-volume B2C digital business would be particularly relevant, for example: Marketplaces | eCommerce | Travel | Subscription | Loyalty | Retail | Consumer Technology | FinTech | Online Services.
