A commercially minded finance leader to partner directly with the CEO, providing financial insight, strategic challenge and leadership across a small, listed group. This role offers significant exposure and a genuine pathway towards Finance Director responsibility within a growing SME environment.

Description
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be the most senior full-time finance professional within the Group, working closely with the Board and Fractional CFO.
This is a broad leadership position combining financial control, commercial finance and strategic business partnering. Whilst the role retains responsibility for statutory reporting, governance and financial stewardship, the successful candidate will play a key role in transforming financial information into meaningful business insight.

Key Responsibilities Include
- Leading the finance function across the Group and its subsidiaries
- Producing consolidated management accounts and Board reporting
- Delivering commercial insight to support strategic decision-making
- Leading budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning
- Partnering with the CEO and senior leadership team to improve business performance
- Developing reporting frameworks, KPIs and profitability analysis
- Managing the Group audit and statutory reporting process
- Supporting growth initiatives, investment decisions and operational improvements
- Leading and developing a small finance team
- Attending Board meetings and contributing to business strategy
Profile
For this Commercial Head of Finance or Commercial Financial Controller opportunity, we are seeking a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a strong blend of financial leadership and commercial acumen.
You will likely be operating as a Financial Controller, Head of Finance or potentially a Finance Business Partner or Finance Director within an SME, entrepreneurial or growth-focused environment.
You Will Also Demonstrate
- Strong technical accounting and reporting capability
- Experience presenting to senior stakeholders or Boards
- A commercial mindset with the ability to influence outcomes
- The ability to turn data into actionable business insight
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- A hands-on approach and willingness to operate across both strategic and operational activities
- Ambition to develop into a broader Finance Director position over time

Job Offer
- Base salary of £70,000-£85,000 depending on experience
- 5% matched pension contribution
