The Role
Wemco is looking for an experienced and motivated Commercial Gas Engineer to join our growing engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who is looking to work within a professional, established company and who wants to develop their career within the commercial heating and mechanical services sector.
You will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, servicing, breakdowns, repairs, fault finding and installation works across a range of commercial properties throughout the South West.
Our engineers work on a varied range of equipment and systems, including commercial boilers, heating plant, hot water systems, gas appliances, pumps, controls and associated mechanical services.
The role will suit an engineer who takes pride in their work, has good technical knowledge and is confident working independently while also being part of a wider engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and servicing of commercial gas appliances and heating systems.
- Attend reactive breakdowns and diagnose faults efficiently.
- Carry out repairs, adjustments and remedial works to commercial heating and hot water systems.
- Undertake commercial gas safety checks and testing.
- Fault find on boilers, burners, controls, pumps and associated plant.
- Carry out installation and commissioning works where required.
- Identify additional repair and improvement opportunities and provide accurate information for quotation.
- Complete service sheets, job reports, photographs and other required documentation accurately.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship and customer service.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with current legislation, industry standards, company procedures and RAMS.
- Liaise professionally with customers, clients, colleagues and other contractors.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools and equipment to a high standard.
- Participate in the company's out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
- An experienced Commercial Gas Engineer with relevant commercial gas qualifications.
- Confident working on commercial boilers, heating systems and associated plant.
- Experienced in fault finding and diagnostics.
- Comfortable working independently and managing their own workload.
- Professional, reliable and customer focused.
- Able to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Organised and capable of completing paperwork and digital job records accurately.
- Safety conscious and committed to maintaining high standards.
- Willing to take responsibility for their work and contribute positively to the wider team.
- Ideally experienced with a range of commercial boiler manufacturers and associated controls.
Desirable Experience
Experience with some or all of the following would be advantageous:
- Commercial boiler plant rooms.
- Forced-draught and modular boilers.
- Commercial hot water systems.
- Gas-fired heating and hot water systems.
- AC installation, fault finding and repair.
- Pumps and heating distribution systems.
- Boiler controls and BMS.
- LPG and/or oil-fired equipment.
- Air source heat pumps and low-carbon heating systems.
- Commercial installation and replacement projects.
