What to Expect
We are recruiting Industrial Placement Interns to join our fantastic Commercial team at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey. As a Commercial Industrial Placement Intern, you will gain hands-on experience and develop your skills in our sales, marketing, and aftersales environments, working alongside experts in one of the world’s most iconic automotive brands.
This is a 12-month full-time Industrial Placement, designed for university students undertaking a placement year as part of their degree programme. It offers exposure to key areas of our global commercial operations and an opportunity to make meaningful contributions to real business projects.
What You'll Do
During your Industrial Placement, you will be immersed in core commercial functions - Sales, Marketing and Aftersales - and gain practical insight into how each team contributes to McLaren’s commercial success. You’ll have the opportunity to support day-to-day operations, strategic projects, and innovation initiatives.
Sales
- Assist the Global Sales team with reporting, data analysis, and forecasting.
- Support retailer network initiatives, including the tracking of KPIs and incentive schemes.
- Contribute to the monitoring of market trends and competitor activity.
Marketing
- Help deliver key marketing activities across brand, product, and digital.
- Support campaign planning and execution in alignment with McLaren’s global strategy.
- Contribute to content creation and use marketing platforms such as CRM, social media analytics, and email automation tools.
Aftersales
- Support customer experience and retention initiatives.
- Assist with parts and service data analysis, customer feedback trends, and aftersales strategy development.
- Contribute to ongoing projects that enhance ownership satisfaction and retailer support.

What You'll Bring
Currently studying for a degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field, and on track to achieve or have achieved a 2:1 or above at a UK university.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A genuine interest in the automotive industry and commercial operations.
- Some familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and business tools (e.g., Power BI and CRM platforms) is beneficial.
You must also bring a passion for cars, and a desire to work at the cutting edge of the automotive industry within our Sales business area.
