Blacksmith Insurance Brokers is a growing, FCA-regulated brokerage with offices in London, Manchester, and Glasgow. We specialise in tailored commercial insurance solutions, providing businesses across multiple sectors with the protection they need. Our firm is built on expertise, integrity, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.

We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Insurance Account Handler to join our team, working from any of our London, Manchester, or Glasgow offices on a hybrid basis, managing a portfolio of clients and delivering high-quality insurance solutions.

The Role

The Commercial Insurance Account Handler will be responsible for servicing commercial clients, providing expert advice, and managing policy renewals and new business quotations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Management: Develop and manage insurance programs to protect clients' assets and liabilities.
  • New Business & Renewals: Handle renewals, mid-term adjustments (MTAs), endorsements, and claims support for a portfolio of clients.
  • Market Research & Insurer Negotiation: Research potential clients and negotiate with insurers to secure the best coverage.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure accuracy in policy documentation, apply correct policy wordings, and comply with FCA regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Account Executives, Directors, and insurers to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Customer Service: Provide a high-quality advisory service, reviewing and securing appropriate cover at competitive premiums.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a commercial brokerage (Account Handler level).
  • Strong knowledge of Commercial Insurance, including Property, Liability, Business Interruption, Professional Indemnity, and Hospitality.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with clients, insurers, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in Acturis or a similar insurer-backed CRM system.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work from one of our London, Manchester, or Glasgow offices at least two days per week, with hybrid flexibility for the rest.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Relevant Insurance Qualification (or willingness to work towards it).
  • Italian speaking is a plus.
