Motts Insurance is an independent commercial insurance broker based in Penarth, South Wales. We are looking for an experienced Commercial Insurance Account Handler to join our growing team.

This is an opportunity for an Account Handler who wants to take greater ownership of their clients while developing their career into new business and client development.

THE ROLE:

You will take responsibility for an existing book of commercial insurance clients, providing a high standard of service and managing their insurance requirements throughout the policy lifecycle.

Alongside servicing the existing portfolio, you will be encouraged to develop your own client bank through new business, referrals, and professional networking.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing an existing portfolio of commercial insurance clients
  • Handling renewals, mid-term adjustments, quotations, and day-to-day client enquiries
  • Negotiating with insurers to obtain appropriate cover and competitive terms
  • Building strong, long-term relationships with clients and insurers
  • Identifying opportunities to develop existing client relationships
  • Generating new business and building your own portfolio of clients
  • Developing relationships with professional referral partners, including accountants, solicitors, and other business advisers
  • Representing Motts at relevant business networking events
  • Maintaining accurate client and policy records using Acturis

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for an experienced commercial insurance professional who is confident dealing directly with clients and insurers and is comfortable managing their own workload.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience within a commercial insurance broking environment
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products and processes
  • Excellent client communication and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive and commercially minded approach
  • An interest in developing new business and building professional relationships
  • The confidence to represent the business at networking events and client meetings
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail

Experience using Acturis is essential and is a non-negotiable requirement for this position.

A CII qualification, or a willingness to work towards one, would be advantageous.

WORKING AT MOTTS

The role is predominantly home-based, providing the flexibility of working remotely while remaining part of the Motts team.

Our Penarth office provides a base for regular team meetings, planning sessions, and collaboration, with opportunities to meet colleagues and work together in person.

As an independent broker, you will have the opportunity to build long-lasting relationships with your clients and play an important role in developing the business. For the right person, there is scope for the role to develop further into a broader Account Executive and business development position.
