Commercial Insurance Broker – Come and Make Your Mark at MWA Special Risks!

📍 Highams Park, London | Full-time | Office-based | Salary £40k+ based on experience

Who are we?

At MWA Special Risks, we do things a little differently. We’re an ambitious, growing insurance brokerage with a passion for finding solutions where others might see problems. We specialise in commercial insurance, complex risks and the harder-to-place business that needs a little more thought, expertise and a personal touch.

We believe great insurance broking is about more than just getting a quote. It’s about building relationships, understanding our clients, thinking outside the box and delivering a level of service that makes people want to work with us again and again.

With over 100 years of combined insurance experience across the business, access to a wide range of insurance markets and a refreshed commercial team, we’re continuing to invest in our people, our business and our future.

And that’s where you could come in!

The opportunity

We’re looking for a Commercial Insurance Broker with energy, ambition and a bit of personality to join our team in Highams Park. Someone who knows their way around commercial insurance, enjoys a challenge and takes pride in doing a great job. Someone who is hungry to succeed, confident enough to pick up the phone, build relationships and get things moving, and professional enough to earn the trust of clients and insurers alike.

You don’t have to be the finished article, but you do need to have the right attitude. We want someone who takes ownership, uses their initiative, spots opportunities and genuinely wants to make a difference.

You’ll be trusted to look after and develop a portfolio of commercial clients, source and negotiate cover across a range of risks, manage renewals and mid-term adjustments, and work closely with insurers to secure the right terms for your clients.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

In short, we want someone who wants to do more than just process renewals. We want someone who wants to build something.

What will you be doing?

  • Keeping on top of documentation, compliance and accurate records.
  • Working with the wider team to share ideas, solve problems and deliver a consistently high standard of service.
  • No two days are necessarily the same, and that’s part of the appeal!

What are we looking for?

  • Energetic and hungry to succeed – you want to progress, achieve and make things happen.
  • Professional and personable – you know how to build trust, communicate well and look after clients.
  • Commercially minded – you understand that great service and growing a successful portfolio go hand in hand.
  • Proactive – you don’t need to be chased to get things done, and you’re comfortable taking ownership.
  • Curious and resourceful – you enjoy finding solutions, tackling tricky risks and thinking outside the box.
  • A team player – you bring a positive attitude, share knowledge and want to see the whole team succeed.
