We're on a mission to protect society from fraud and money laundering.
We've already protected over 3 million people through life's big transactions.
Fraud and regulation are rising, costing the UK economy over £100bn every year; this makes it more difficult for businesses to protect themselves and their clients - individuals like you and me - from fraud and money laundering.
Our co-founders Olly and Jack were led to this area when a friend was defrauded of £25K when buying their first property. At the time, anti-fraud technology didn't exist, which meant that completing the anti-fraud checks required in these processes was largely manual. These big life moments should be exciting, but instead are often confusing and scary due to the painful process of completing these paper-based checks and the risk of fraud.
Thirdfort helps businesses to facilitate these anti-fraud checks so that individuals know they can transact safely and seamlessly with professionals during these big transactions. Our anti-fraud platform provides a secure way for professionals in regulated sectors like Lawyers, Estate Agents and Accountants to transfer funds and verify sensitive information through app-based document checks, facial recognition and open banking.
Over 1,500 businesses now trust Thirdfort to verify their clients. We are FCA regulated and have raised over $33m in capital from leading Fintech investors Breega and Element Ventures, as well as the founders of Zoopla, Funding Circle, Comply Advantage, Tessian, Fenergo and Fidel.
The mission of the role:
Our referencing product is growing fast in an underserved market. With high ambitions, we're building a small, high-ownership unit to take it further. As our Commercial Lead, you'll own the whole engine: from creating the GTM strategy to taking the product to market, and growing it, yourself. You’ll win new business, grow and keep the customer base, and run the commercial operations that delivers it. You’ll work hand-in-hand with the Product & Technology Lead to establish a market-leading product.
This role won’t initially have reports; we’re intentionally keeping the unit lean to optimise for speed. It's a broad and varied role for somebody who is commercial and strategically minded, comfortable operating in a very entrepreneurial setup and getting hands-on. You’ll need to partner with teams across the business, but you’ll be responsible for the outcomes and making things happen. As a result, you get to own the number, have real autonomy, and there’s real upside.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

For this role, we'd love this person to be able to join us in our London office a ~3 days per week - being together as a team is valuable for us, especially at this stage of growth.
You will have success in this role by:
- Developing and executing our tenant referencing go-to-market strategy.
- Taking the product to market yourself: the message, the channels, scrappily then systematically.
- Scaling commercial operations as the customer base grows.
- Owning new business and the existing book end-to-end.
- Driving unit economics and scalability: getting cost per reference down through automation and AI.
- Being the commercial voice in the product roadmap.
You may be right for this role if you:
Hard requirements:
- Have ~5-10 years of steep-trajectory experience at a high-growth scaleup, or are an ex-consultant who has since operated.
- Have owned a commercial number end-to-end, both winning new business and retaining and growing a customer base.
- Are a genuinely rounded operator; you’re comfortable selling, running an operation, and turning your hand to marketing.
- You’re analytical - you’re comfortable getting hands-on with data, running your own analysis, creating reports, and leveraging data to drive data-informed decisions.
- Are entrepreneurial and behave like an owner - you have built something before, you’re comfortable with unit economics, data, and picking up new things.
Nice to haves:
- Exposure to proptech, lettings, build to rent, or a related market
- Experience in a regulated and/or fintech environment
- Early-stage or 0-1 experience building a product, unit or motion from little
Studies show that women and other less represented groups are less likely to apply for roles unless they meet every requirement. We believe in building a diverse team, valuing different skills and experiences and so if you don't think you have all the requirements listed here but feel this could be a role and environment you'd thrive in, we would still love for you to apply.
