Excellent opportunity for a Commercial Disputes Solicitor to join a leading national team in Leeds.
We are working with a leading international law firm on an excellent opportunity for a Commercial Disputes Solicitor at NQ level or above to join its Leeds office on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role will form part of a specific client project being delivered by the firm's national Commercial Disputes team, providing the successful candidate with the opportunity to work on high-quality and complex matters alongside experienced disputes lawyers.
The Role
You will join a busy and high-performing Commercial Disputes team, working alongside lawyers across the UK and internationally.
The team advises major corporates, public sector organisations and high net worth individuals across a broad range of sectors and disputes. The successful candidate will ideally have a background in general commercial disputes, with some experience in defender professional negligence / PI work being advantageous.
Depending on your level of experience, you can expect to:
- Work on a dedicated client project within the Commercial Disputes team.
- Support fee earners on complex and high-value disputes.
- Assist with matters across a broad range of commercial disputes.
- Undertake legal research, drafting and case preparation.
- Work alongside experienced disputes lawyers and gain exposure to complex client matters.
- Work across different offices and jurisdictions where required.
- Develop your technical and commercial understanding.
- Contribute to training, knowledge sharing and wider team initiatives.

The wider practice has expertise across areas including commercial disputes, finance, fraud, construction, insurance and reinsurance, technology, media, intellectual property, business protection, competition, property, tax and pensions disputes. The team takes a commercial and innovative approach to dispute resolution, utilising litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution including negotiation, mediation and adjudication.
About You
This opportunity would suit a newly qualified solicitor or an experienced Associate looking to develop their Commercial Disputes experience within a high-quality national practice.

You will ideally have:
- Experience in general commercial disputes, whether gained during your training contract or post-qualification.
- Some experience in defender PI/professional negligence work would be advantageous.
- A sound technical understanding of the law.
- Strong drafting and communication skills.
- A commercial, pragmatic and common-sense approach.
- The ability to manage deadlines and work effectively in a challenging environment.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach.
- A genuine interest in developing your career within Commercial Disputes.
- The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across different offices and jurisdictions.
