The Role

The Commercial Manager will develop new business opportunities in line with the strategic growth plan, and nurture existing high-profile accounts, while working closely with the Commercial Director, wider Commercial Team and NPD team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client relationship management: Build strong, lasting partnerships with new and existing high-profile accounts, as the main point of contact for key stakeholders at all levels.
  • Business Development: Identify and develop key new business development opportunities that fit strategic growth plan.
  • Strategic planning: Develop and execute strategic account plans to achieve sales targets, maximise revenue growth, and identify new business opportunities.
  • Sales and negotiation: Generate sales for the company by understanding client needs, negotiating contracts, pricing agreements, and supply terms to secure profitable, long-term partnerships.
  • Performance analysis: Monitor and report on sales performance, market share, and account profitability to senior management.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with internal teams, such as sales, NPD and operations, to ensure alignment and successful execution of account strategies.
  • Market intelligence: Analyse market trends, competitive landscapes, and customer needs to inform strategic decisions.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience in Account Management and Business Development in Food/FMCG
  • Relationship building and relationship management skills
  • Experience in negotiating commercial terms, pricing, range, etc.
  • Tenacious and self-motivated, with a positive attitude
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure timely completion of all tasks
  • Ability to analyse market data and apply appropriately for commercial gain
  • Excellent internal and external communication
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland as required
  • A collaborator who will work well in a team, and be able to adapt in a fast-paced environment

Desirable

  • Experience working with major UK retailers and foodservice/wholesale providers
  • Experience and knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly in chilled and frozen food
  • A passion for food
