Commercial Manager – North of Scotland

Location: North of Scotland / Highlands
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you an experienced Commercial Manager, Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for your next career move with an established Scottish contractor?

We are working with a successful contractor delivering a varied portfolio of construction and civil engineering projects across the North of Scotland and Highlands.

This is an excellent opportunity to take on a senior commercial position with genuine responsibility, autonomy, and long-term project exposure.

Interest

As Commercial Manager, you will oversee the commercial performance of projects from pre-construction through to completion, working closely with project teams, clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.

You will play a key role in protecting project profitability, managing contractual risk, and identifying commercial opportunities.

  • Manage the commercial aspects of projects from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Lead contract negotiations and manage commercial and contractual risk.
  • Provide advice on contracts, variations, claims, and extensions of time.
  • Monitor project costs, forecasts, performance, and commercial opportunities.
  • Manage variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Ensure contractual notices, records, and procedures are maintained correctly.
  • Provide commercial input into procurement and project planning.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the wider commercial team.

Desire

We're looking for a commercially focused professional with strong experience within construction or civil engineering.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Experience as a Commercial Manager, Managing QS, or Senior QS.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts and contractual procedures.
  • Proven contract negotiation and commercial risk-management experience.
  • Experience managing variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Strong client and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience mentoring or managing commercial staff.
  • A proactive and commercially driven approach.

Consultancy or client-side experience would be advantageous, although strong contractor-side candidates are encouraged to apply.
