About Us

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is at the heart of energy in the UK. The electricity that our network provides gets the nation to work, powers schools, and brings energy to life. Our network connects the nation, so it’s essential that it’s continually evolving, advancing, and improving. In NGET we are passionate about both operating safely and providing highly reliable quality of supply for our customers.

National Grid is hiring a Commercial Manager - This position is based from our Warwick office, however, we offer flexible hybrid working options.

Job Purpose

Supporting projects in the early phases of BP500 (Optioneering and Development), you will lead a team of Quantity Surveyors and take responsibility for maximising the commercial performance of our Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) Framework to deliver value across a portfolio of transmission infrastructure projects. Working in Portfolio Strategy and Development (PS&D), you will ensure value for money for consumers while operating within the regulatory framework, managing commercial risk, and supporting the successful development of National Grid’s ambitious investment programme.

Working across a diverse portfolio of projects, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, helping to shape commercial strategies and contractual arrangements that will support the development of critical energy infrastructure through to 2030 and beyond.

What You'll Do

  • Reporting to the Director of PMO, establish the Commercial capability within PS&D through the formation of a new team.
  • Lead commercial development of infrastructure projects from the creation of the contract strategy, option selection, and development phases, through to handover to delivery.
  • Support the allocation of FEED contracts (NEC 3/NEC4), ensuring effective cost control, risk management, and value optimisation.
  • Manage FEED performance for PS&D, setting up the right forums and channels to ensure strategic performance discussions at portfolio level, whilst also working at project level to enable the timely resolution and close-out of issues and escalations.
  • Lead decision-making and regular FEED performance reporting to senior leaders and Exec.
  • Building strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders including procurement, delivery, and legal, to drive successful project outcomes.
  • Leading, coaching, and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors, supporting both performance and professional growth.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
