Commercial Manager (Succession to Commercial Director)

Location: Office-based (Kent)

Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum + Benefits

Working Pattern: Full-time, 5 days per week in office (Enjoy early Friday finishes during August school holidays!)

Our client (part of a global, family-run company) is an industry-leading manufacturer operating in a highly regulated, specialist sector. They design and produce automated metal valves, shutters, and barriers—known as dampers—that fit inside a building's air ducts.

The Opportunity

This is not just an operational office management position—it is a key strategic stepping stone to the C-suite.

As Commercial Manager, you will be brought in as part of our core leadership team. You will work directly alongside the Managing Director and senior leadership team to shape the future of the commercial operations.

  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and motivate a multi-disciplinary sales office of approximately 13 direct/indirect reports across Customer Service, Technical Sales, Order Processing, and Quotation teams.
  • Process & Operational Autonomy: You will have the opportunity to review, restructure, and optimise internal workflows, setting clear KPIs, service levels, and turnaround times for order and quote handling.
  • Training & People Development: Implement structured training formats, foster clear career pathways, and upskill the team—transitioning customer interactions from "order taking" to proactive, discovery-driven sales support.
  • Culture & Engagement: Drive day-to-day accountability, open communication, and high energy within a modern, highly profitable manufacturing site.

What We Are Looking For

HVAC or Building Services experience is NOT required—they can easily teach you the technical product details! What matters most to them is your people leadership, commercial sharpness, and character.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

  • Proven People Management: Experience leading, training, and inspiring customer service, sales operations, or internal commercial teams.
  • Commercial Drive & Inquiry Mindset: A background in high-volume processing environments where quality customer discovery and proactive service are prioritised.
