We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Commercial Manager to join our Northwest team, supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of rail and infrastructure projects across established frameworks and future opportunities within the region.
This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in managing commercial performance, supporting project delivery teams, and helping drive the growth of the business across a range of existing and upcoming schemes. You will have the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making, develop commercial teams, and contribute to the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide commercial leadership and support to project and commercial teams across the Northwest region.
- Manage and mentor Quantity Surveyors and commercial professionals, supporting their development and performance.
- Lead the commercial management of existing framework and project contracts, ensuring successful delivery and financial performance.
- Support business development and bid activities for future opportunities across the region.
- Ensure compliance with company commercial processes, procedures, and governance requirements.
- Monitor, review, and report on commercial performance, identifying risks and opportunities to maximise project outcomes.
- Support the preparation and negotiation of contracts, subcontracts, and commercial agreements.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, supply chain partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide commercial guidance to project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to forecasting, budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting activities.
- Support the growth and future development of the regional commercial function.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications
- Strong commercial management experience within the civil engineering or infrastructure sector.
- Experience managing commercial teams and supporting the development of others.
- Civil engineering project experience is essential.
- Rail sector experience is desirable but not essential.
- Working knowledge of NEC4 contracts is essential.
- Experience with other forms of contract, such as JCT, is desirable.
- Experience supporting tendering and bid processes is desirable.
- Knowledge of commercial management systems and client-led systems, including CEMAR, is advantageous.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and manage risks and opportunities.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to analyse commercial data and produce accurate reports and forecasts.
- An initiative-taking approach with strong organisational and critical thinking skills.
- Commitment to maintaining exacting standards of compliance, governance, and commercial best practice.
