Montgomery Group is looking for a Commercially Driven Commercial Manager to Join a New Event Launch
Montgomery Group is looking for a commercially driven Commercial Manager to join a new event launch. You will help building a new summit and exhibition from the ground up, growing an established customer base and identifying new opportunities in an exciting market.
Working closely with an association partner and experienced internal team, the Commercial Manager will drive exhibition and sponsorship revenue, developing long-term customer relationships.
Position Overview & Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a commercial sales plan that aligns with the wider event strategy to identify new revenue opportunities and drive sustainable commercial growth.
- Own exhibition stand and sponsorship sales, to achieve or exceed agreed revenue targets.
- Manage and grow an existing database of suppliers and convert new business opportunities within the market.
- Work with the event's association partner to identify, engage and secure exhibitors and sponsors, ensuring the event attracts market-leading organisations.
- Build long-term relationships with exhibitors, sponsors, and industry stakeholders, becoming a trusted commercial partner.
- Manage key accounts to maximise customer retention, upselling, and long-term value.
- Own the exhibition floor plan, optimising space for commercial performance and a strong customer experience.
- Build market knowledge by attending industry events, networking functions, and customer meetings.
- Meet with customers and prospects face-to-face for a minimum of 50% of your working week to build relationships and identifying commercial opportunities.
- Work with the marketing, content, and operations teams to ensure commercial objectives support the event strategy.
- Use the CRM system to manage the pipeline, forecast accurately, and maintain data quality.
- Use AI-driven tools and insights to improve sales performance, improve customer engagement, and support data-led decisions.
- Contribute ideas to evolve the event and keep it commercially successful and relevant to the community it serves.

Competencies

- Experience in B2B exhibition, sponsorship, media, or solution sales.
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and closing skills.
- Proven experience developing new business whilst managing and growing existing customer relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills, able to prioritise workload and manage an active sales pipeline.
- Experience preparing commercial proposals and sponsorship packages.
- Experience using CRM systems to manage pipeline, forecasting, and customer engagement.
- Willingness to use AI-powered tools to improve sales performance and productivity.

The central London, dog-friendly offices are in a Georgian townhouse close to Oxford Street & Marylebone High Street with private access to Manchester Square Gardens. A minimum of 4 days in the office, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Some flexibility will be required to meet business needs.
