Commercial Manager

Manchester Area (hybrid - travel to clients required)
Up to £65,000 base

TGRC is partnering with a UK engineering and infrastructure contractor specialising in the delivery of electrical infrastructure projects across the power and utilities sectors. The business provides end-to-end solutions including high-voltage electrical installations, cable infrastructure, substations, and associated civil engineering works, supporting the UK's critical energy network.

Job Summary:

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for developing and executing the company's commercial growth strategy, expanding its presence across both the public and private sectors, and building a strong pipeline of new business opportunities. You will lead commercial negotiations, oversee tender and framework submissions, develop strategic partnerships, and identify new revenue streams that support the long-term growth of the business.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced commercial professional who thrives on building relationships, developing strategy, and delivering sustainable business growth within the renewable energy, utilities or wider infrastructure sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the company's commercial growth strategy to support long-term business objectives.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of public and private sector opportunities.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across renewable energy, infrastructure and commercial markets.
  • Increase the company's presence within the private commercial sector through strategic business development initiatives.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key clients, partners and senior stakeholders.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, pricing strategies and costing activities to maximise profitability.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of high-quality tenders, bids and framework applications.
  • Develop strategic partnerships that create new revenue opportunities and strengthen market presence.
  • Monitor market trends, identify emerging opportunities and support business diversification.
  • Work collaboratively with operational and leadership teams to ensure commercial objectives align with business strategy.
  • Provide commercial insight and contribute to strategic decision-making as a key member of the leadership team.

Key Requirements:

  • Significant experience in a senior Commercial Manager, Business Development, Partnerships or Strategic Growth role.
  • Experience within the renewable energy, solar, utilities, infrastructure or wider energy sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in developing new business pipelines and generating sustainable revenue growth.
  • Strong commercial strategy development and execution experience.
  • Proven ability to lead pricing, costing and commercial negotiations.
  • Experience preparing and managing successful tender submissions, framework applications and competitive bids.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Excellent commercial awareness with the ability to identify, develop and convert business opportunities.
  • Strategic thinker who is equally comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands-on level.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
