Your new company
We are supporting a confidential client delivering one of the UK's most significant long-term infrastructure and energy programmes. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a highly complex engineering environment, providing commercial leadership across major construction, infrastructure and engineering contracts throughout the project life cycle. The role will be instrumental in supporting the successful delivery of a nationally important programme with substantial long-term investment and development.
Your new role
- Lead commercial and procurement activities across major contracts.
- Support contract drafting, negotiation and administration.
- Provide advice on contract strategy, risk allocation and commercial models.
- Manage cost forecasting, budgeting and commercial reporting.
- Oversee change control, valuations and final accounts.
- Ensure contractual compliance and effective commercial governance.
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks.
- Lead commercial negotiations and dispute avoidance activities.
- Build strong relationships with project teams, contractors and stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to junior commercial professionals.

What you'll need to succeed
- Significant commercial, quantity surveying or procurement experience.
- Experience within construction, infrastructure, engineering, energy, utilities, rail, defence or major capital projects.
- Strong NEC contract knowledge.
- Experience managing high-value and complex contracts.
- Expertise in cost control, forecasting, change management and commercial reporting.
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
Desirable:
- Public sector or regulated environment experience.
- Team leadership or mentoring experience.
- Understanding of governance and assurance processes.
- Professional qualifications such as MRICS, MCIPS or equivalent.
