Role Overview
The Commercial Manager is accountable for P&L performance across defined panels of brokers, leading a team of Senior Trading Underwriters and Trading Underwriters to deliver growth, profitability, retention and portfolio quality. The role drives excellent broker engagement, underwriting discipline and adoption of P Strategy, creating sustainable growth across complex and relationship-led business.
You’ll Make An Impact By
- Developing and executing broker strategies and business plans, driving growth, retention and portfolio performance across assigned broker panels.
- Leading broker engagement activity, building great market relationships and ensuring delivery of a compelling customer and broker proposition.
- Driving team engagement, capability development and performance management, creating a high-performing culture that supports commercial success.
- Ensuring compliance with policies, standards and regulatory requirements, identifying opportunities to improve customer outcomes and operational effectiveness.
- Resolving complex trading and underwriting issues, escalating strategic matters appropriately.
- Influencing stakeholders through excellent communication, commercial insight and data-driven decision making.
- Maintaining a consistent operating rhythm across Regions, working closely with fellow Commercial Managers to share insight, align delivery and drive underwriting excellence.
- Actively contributing to the Commercial Manager community of practice, promoting collaboration, consistency and best practice across the Regional business.
- Championing continuous improvement and fostering innovation within the team.

Your Skills And Experience
- Considerable experience in Commercial Lines underwriting and broker trading, with a proven ability to deliver P&L outcomes through effective broker engagement, business planning, portfolio management and team leadership.
- Proven experience as an effective people leader, extensive supervisory experience, capable of building high performing teams, managing performance and delivering consistent underwriting and commercial results across a defined portfolio.
- Advanced leadership and people management skills; proven ability to build high-performing teams.
- Solid understanding of functional processes and ability to apply judgment within defined policies.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills; able to engage stakeholders effectively.
- Problem-solving and decision-making within defined parameters.
- Digital fluency and ability to use tools for planning and monitoring.
- Professional certifications may be advantageous.
