I’m working with a growing technology business that’s looking for a Commercial Manager to help bring greater structure, visibility and commercial control across the organisation.
This is a great opportunity for someone who sits comfortably between commercial, contracts, pricing, governance and stakeholder management - and enjoys being the person who makes sure things move forward.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What are they looking for?
You don't necessarily need to have followed a traditional Commercial Manager career path. You could come from a background in:
- Commercial Management
- Contract Management
- Procurement
- Legal Operations
- Supplier Management
- Client Commercials
The key is having strong commercial awareness, good judgement and the ability to bring structure to a busy environment.

Experience with SaaS, software, technology, financial services or outsourced services would be useful, as would exposure to:
- Pricing / bids / tenders
- Contract negotiations
- Governance and risk
- Supplier due diligence
- Data protection / information security
- Commercial reporting
You’ll need to be organised, detail-oriented and comfortable dealing with senior stakeholders, while being able to work across different teams and competing priorities.
You’ll have the opportunity to build and improve the commercial function, rather than simply inheriting a process and maintaining it.
