Commercial Manager
Location: Stafford UK
Salary: £90,000–£100,000 per annum, negotiable + Commission + Benefits
Staffbase have been appointed to recruit an experienced Commercial Manager for a leading manufacturer of high-quality electronic products used across a range of industrial applications.
We are seeking a commercially driven and experienced Commercial Manager / Sales Manager / Business Development Manager with a strong track record of winning new business, developing key customer relationships, and delivering profitable revenue growth. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial professional to play a key role in the continued growth of a technology-led engineering and manufacturing business.
The Role
As Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing key customer accounts, and delivering the company's commercial and sales objectives. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and finance, you will ensure commercial opportunities are effectively developed, quoted, negotiated, and converted into profitable business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the company's commercial and sales strategy
- Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities
- Build and manage a strong sales pipeline and accurate sales forecasts
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key customers and strategic accounts
- Lead and manage the business development and internal sales team
- Prepare, present, and negotiate quotations, pricing, and commercial terms
- Identify opportunities to increase revenue and grow existing customer accounts
- Develop account plans and strategies for key customers
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop commercially viable technical solutions
- Manage the commercial process from initial enquiry through quotation, negotiation, and order
- Monitor market trends, competitors, and emerging business opportunities
- Attend customer meetings, exhibitions, conferences, and industry events
- Maintain accurate CRM and sales pipeline information
- Monitor commercial performance, revenue, margins, and profitability
- Provide regular commercial performance reports and updates to senior management and board directors
- Identify opportunities to improve customer retention, revenue, and gross margin

The Candidate
We are looking for a commercially focused Commercial Manager, Sales Manager, or Business Development Manager with senior-level experience within a technology, engineering, electronics, or manufacturing environment.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience in commercial management, sales, business development, or account management
- A strong track record of winning new business and growing existing customer accounts
- Experience managing a sales or business development team
- Strong commercial awareness, including pricing, margins, profitability, and contract negotiation
- Excellent sales, negotiation, and communication skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders
- Experience managing a sales pipeline and producing accurate sales forecasts
- The ability to understand technical products and clearly communicate their commercial value to customers
- Strong organizational, analytical, and CRM / pipeline management skills
- A proactive, self-motivated, and results-driven approach
- Excellent presentation and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and finance

Salary & Benefits
- £90,000–£100,000 per annum, negotiable
