JOB TITLE: Commercial Manager

DEPARTMENT: Museum & Tours

LOCATION: Stamford Bridge, London

CONTRACT: Permanent, Full Time

JOB FUNCTION: To lead on all commercial aspects of the Museum & Tours experience

Main Responsibilities:

  • Improving the commercial performance of the M&T department
  • Growing revenue and visitor numbers
  • Managing relationships with commercial partners, Chelsea FC club partnerships, travel trade partners and third parties
  • Managing calendar of sales promotions in line with various seasonal fluctuations
  • New business development of increasing ticket sales direct and via third party agents
  • New product development of tour portfolio and new commercial products and experiences at the stadium
  • Good understanding and capability of ticketing and sales systems used by M&T
  • Overview of online and in person customer user journey to continually improve conversion and sales

Measures of Performance:

  • Responsible for the development of existing and new relationships and achieving the targeted visitor numbers and revenue overall and separately from trade partners
  • Develop strong and mutually beneficial relationships with key local and national tourism travel trade operators, transport providers, group organisers, online travel companies and education sector
  • Display significant knowledge of consumer and travel trade trends in the market, competitor activity and changes in product trends and sales channels
  • Attend key travel trade shows and seminars to represent the product and actively sell to market
  • Identify key new travel industry partners such as tourist boards and trade bodies and account manage these
  • Develop and implement an annual travel trade sales plan to be presented to senior stakeholders and keep stakeholders regularly updated on this plan
  • Provide regular reports and presents on Tour Trade and relevant progress against key objectives
  • Update and review contracts ensuring correct pricing and correct content/imagery etc.
  • Confirm travel trade and group bookings on booking system ensuring correct financial reporting
  • Oversee Purchase Order input and invoice management on appropriate trade membership payments and fees.
  • Detail and deliver promotions and relations with Third Party Gifting re-sellers.
  • Help identify and exploit new revenue opportunities for Chelsea FC
  • Reporting on commercial performance across the M&T department
  • Execute additional tasks as required to meet Chelsea FC changing priorities
  • Benchmarking the Chelsea FC Tour and Museum against other attractions and making recommendations on product offering.
  • Creating new, exclusive offerings for B2B or B2C markets to increase turnover.
  • Management of 2 members of staff (Booking Coordinators) across a 7-week operation

Person Specification:

Experience:

  • Essential: Previous commercial experience working in a similar business
  • Desired: Good understanding of ticketing and sales systems
  • Desired: Experience of working with third party agents and contracts and in developing and delivering against an annual travel trade sales plan
  • Desired: Excellent people management skills.
  • Desired: Experience of new product development and growing commercial revenue

Skills and Behaviours:

  • Excellent communicator in person and in commercial reporting and communication
  • Strong business acumen including being opportunistic and fast moving
  • Ability to create long lasting commercial relationships.
  • Passionate about delivering the best customer service experience
