Container Commercial Manager – Felixstowe

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join an established container transport operation in Felixstowe.

This is a customer-facing role for someone who understands the container transport market and can develop existing relationships while creating new commercial opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow existing customer accounts.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline.
  • Develop relationships with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and importers.
  • Prepare quotations, rate reviews, and commercial proposals.
  • Attend customer meetings and industry events.
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure commercially viable solutions.
  • Monitor customer volumes, rates, and account performance.
  • Support tenders and larger commercial opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce additional services

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of container transport and the Felixstowe market.
  • Existing industry relationships and contacts would be advantageous.
  • Proven commercial, sales, or account management experience.
  • Confident developing new business as well as managing existing customers.
  • Commercially aware with a good understanding of transport pricing and margins.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable generating your own opportunities.
  • Able to build long-term customer relationships rather than simply chase short-term sales.
