Commercial Manager – Data Centre

Location: Glasgow, Scotland
Salary: Up to £100,000 + Bonus + Package
Sector: Data Centres / Mission Critical Construction
Employer: General Contractor

An established General Contractor is looking to appoint a Commercial Manager to take a key commercial role on a major new-build data centre project in Glasgow.

This is a senior site-based position with responsibility for the commercial performance of significant packages across the project, with a particular focus on MEP works.

We’re looking for someone with strong commercial construction experience who understands the complexities of managing high-value mechanical and electrical packages. Previous data centre or mission-critical project experience would be highly advantageous, although candidates from other technically complex environments will also be considered.

The Role

You will be responsible for the commercial management of the project, working closely with the Project Director, construction team, subcontractors and wider commercial function. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Commercial management of major MEP packages
  • Subcontractor procurement, negotiation and appointment
  • Cost planning, forecasting and reporting
  • Management of variations, change control and commercial risk
  • Subcontractor valuations and payment management
  • Contract administration and contractual correspondence
  • Monitoring project costs against budget and programme
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
  • Supporting claims and dispute avoidance where required
  • Working closely with project delivery teams to protect margin and commercial performance
  • Managing and mentoring members of the project commercial team
  • Supporting the project through construction, commissioning and final account

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
