The Opportunity

Laing O'Rourke is looking to connect with experienced commercial professionals to support delivery across projects in Doncaster.

As construction partner for National Grid's Great Grid Partnership (GGP), we are contributing to a major programme of power infrastructure works, supported by a long-term supply chain framework extending beyond 2030.

  • Managing commercial and quantity surveying activities across allocated work packages or project areas.
  • Leading the commercial administration and management of subcontract packages under NEC contracts.
  • Managing valuations, interim applications, payment certifications and subcontract agreements.
  • Overseeing subcontract performance, change control, payments and contractual obligations.
  • Preparing monthly cost reports, forecasts and commercial performance updates.

  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies and protecting project performance.
  • Advising project teams on contractual matters, commercial strategy and risk management.
  • Supporting project budgets, contract reviews and business performance reporting.
  • Building effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
  • Providing guidance and support to junior commercial team members, where appropriate.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
