Commercial Manager – Civils
Potters Bar, Hertfordshire | £six fig + Benefits

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a major civils project currently underway in Potters Bar.

The project forms part of a £90m civils package, with significant commercial responsibility and further projects already in the pipeline, offering excellent long-term career prospects.

We are looking for a commercially astute professional with a strong civils background, ideally with experience working on large-scale infrastructure or major civil engineering projects.

The Role

  • Take commercial responsibility for a major civils package valued at approximately £90m
  • Manage the commercial lifecycle of the project from procurement through to final account
  • Lead and manage subcontract packages, including procurement, negotiation, and administration
  • Monitor project costs, forecasts, cash flow, and commercial performance
  • Manage variations, valuations, applications, and payment processes
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities
  • Work closely with the project and operational teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved
  • Support the development and mentoring of commercial team members
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of additional projects as the business continues to grow

About You

  • Proven experience working as a Commercial Manager within the civils sector
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
  • Experience managing significant project values and complex subcontract packages
  • Strong understanding of NEC and/or other relevant forms of contract
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercially driven with strong attention to detail
  • Experience on major infrastructure, utilities, highways, groundworks, or civil engineering projects would be highly advantageous
