At Ambit, we are committed to delivering exceptional construction and infrastructure projects while building lasting relationships with our clients and partners. As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and commercially focused Commercial Manager to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing the commercial performance of projects, ensuring profitability, mitigating risk, and supporting successful project delivery.

The Role

As a Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects from inception through to completion. Working closely with operational teams, clients, and subcontractors, you will ensure projects are delivered in line with commercial objectives while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial performance of multiple construction projects.
  • Prepare, monitor, and control project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow.
  • Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiations, and accounts.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee change management, variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Produce accurate commercial reports and cost analyses for senior management.
  • Support pre-construction, tendering, and bid activities where required.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful and profitable project delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders.

About You

You will be a commercially aware and proactive professional with strong experience in the construction industry and a proven ability to manage costs, contracts, and commercial risk.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a Commercial Manager, Senior Quantity Surveyor, or similar commercial role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, including NEC and JCT forms of contract.
  • Experience managing project costs, forecasting, valuations, and final accounts.
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial management skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate commercial risks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Membership of RICS, CIOB, or a similar professional body is desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence.
