Commercial Manager | Fast-Growing MEP Contractor

Location: Birmingham or Bristol
Salary: Competitive + Excellent Benefits

About the Opportunity:

An established and fast-growing MEP contractor is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join its expanding commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute leader to oversee a portfolio of major construction projects while managing and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors. Working on high-value projects across sectors including commercial, healthcare, education, residential and mixed-use developments, you will play a pivotal role in driving profitability, managing commercial risk and ensuring successful project delivery.

The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Commercial, you will be responsible for the commercial performance of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, mentoring and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Administrators.
  • Managing the commercial performance of a portfolio of projects.
  • Producing and reviewing cost value reconciliations (CVRs), budgets and commercial reporting.
  • Managing project cash flow, forecasting and financial performance.
  • Ensuring contractual compliance and mitigating commercial risk.
  • Overseeing valuations, variations, final accounts and subcontractor management.
  • Supporting project teams to maximise profitability and commercial outcomes.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across commercial processes.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the MEP, Building Services or Construction sector.
  • Strong leadership experience managing commercial teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction contracts and commercial management.
  • Strong financial reporting, forecasting and cost management skills.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication abilities.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects within a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, commercially driven approach with excellent attention to detail.
