Commercial Manager

Providing commercial support to category management activities and major procurements within the acquisition strategy. Responsible for commercial modelling, value-for-money assessments, commercial assurance and benefits analysis, ensuring category strategies, sourcing activities and supplier arrangements deliver programme commercial objectives.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Undertaking should cost modelling, benchmarking and value-for-money assessments.
  • Supporting development and delivery of category management plans and sourcing strategies.
  • Developing commercial models, incentive mechanisms and commercial recommendations.
  • Managing development of commercial evaluation models, pricing schedules and evaluation criteria.
  • Supporting supplier engagement, negotiations and commercial discussions.
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and support mitigation planning.
  • Providing commercial assurance across procurement activities, business cases and governance submissions.
  • Supporting development of commercial strategies, contract models and commercial approaches.
  • Quantifying benefits, savings opportunities and value realisation outcomes.
  • Producing commercial analysis and recommendations to support decision making.

You'll need to have:

  • Previous experience in commercial, procurement or category management roles.
  • Experience of construction or engineering professional services categories.
  • Strong commercial modelling, should-cost analysis and benchmarking capability.
  • Experience developing commercial evaluation methodologies and pricing models.
  • Understanding of commercial principles, contracting approaches and incentive mechanisms.
  • Experience supporting procurements and supplier negotiations.
  • Strong analytical, stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Understanding of public procurement regulations and commercial governance.
  • Experience within major programmes, infrastructure, healthcare or public sector environments desirable.
  • MCIPS, MRICS, CIMA or equivalent professional qualification desirable.
  • Exposure or an understanding of PA23 is desirable.
