Commercial Manager: Internal Sales
Aylesford, Kent
GBP50,000 - GBP55,000pa
Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:00
KHR are working with a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Aylesford who are looking to hire an experienced Commercial Manager.
This is a key leadership role, overseeing the internal commercial function and driving performance, customer service, and continuous improvement across the business. You will lead a team covering Technical Support, Order Processing, Quotations and Estimating, and Customer Services, ensuring all departments work collaboratively to support commercial growth and deliver an excellent customer experience.
Working closely with the Commercial Director and National Sales Manager, you will play a key role in developing processes, improving operational efficiency, and aligning internal and external sales activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and coordinate the internal commercial teams, ensuring effective communication, clear responsibilities, and consistent standards.
- Drive customer service excellence, maintaining high standards of support throughout the customer journey.
- Improve processes across quotations, order processing, technical support, and customer services to enhance efficiency and commercial performance.
- Oversee and develop CRM systems, ensuring accurate data, effective reporting, and visibility of sales activity and opportunities.
- Work closely with external sales teams to improve communication, handovers, and the management of customer opportunities.
- Monitor KPIs, quotation conversion, order accuracy, turnaround times, and overall team performance.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives, including the use of digital tools and automation.
- Support staff development through coaching, training, succession planning, and performance management.
- Lead the transition to a new functional structure, improving collaboration and accountability across the internal commercial function.

Candidate Profile
- Solid experience in a commercially focused administrative or management role with exposure to sales or business development.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in people management and team leadership.
- Strong commercial awareness, with an understanding of construction contracts, pricing, and margins.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical, operational, and customer-facing teams.
- A proven track record of delivering excellent customer service and driving process improvements.
- Experience using ERP and CRM systems, alongside strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Highly organized and analytical, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
