Commercial Manager
We are seeking an experienced, proactive and commercially driven Commercial Manager to lead the sales and events function within our Country Club Hotel. This is an exciting new role, reporting directly to the Director of Sales and is a key leadership role within the hotel responsible for driving revenue across accommodation, meetings and events, weddings, golf, food and beverage, spa and leisure facilities.

About The Role
As Commercial Manager, you will take ownership of the property's commercial strategy, ensuring all group sales, reservations, weddings, conferences, golf groups and social event enquiries are converted into profitable business. You will oversee the day-to-day management and performance of the commercial team, driving revenue growth through proactive sales activity, effective forecasting, strong customer relationships and seamless operational delivery.
Working closely with the Director of Sales, Cluster, Group Commercial Specialists and Operations teams, you will ensure business opportunities are maximised whilst maintaining exceptional guest experiences from enquiry through to event completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver the property's commercial and sales plan, translating annual budgets into clear weekly and monthly activity plans.
- Manage, coach and develop the commercial team, setting performance targets, conversion standards and development objectives.
- Drive proactive sales activity, ensuring consistent new business generation and account development.
- Oversee the management and conversion of enquiries for bedrooms, conferences, meetings, weddings, golf events and social functions.
- Ensure all enquiries receive a timely and professional response within agreed service standards.
- Conduct regular pipeline reviews, diary audits and forecasting analysis to maximise revenue opportunities.
- Coordinate weekly commercial meetings and monthly departmental meetings, presenting performance reports and action plans.
- Support the promotion and marketing of conferences, meetings and events, including weddings and festive events, while developing and delivering an annual events calendar designed to drive footfall.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, wedding suppliers, event organisers, golf societies and corporate clients.
- Ensure pricing, packages and promotional activity are correctly implemented across all systems.
- Works with the director of Sales to monitor event profitability, space utilisation and guest satisfaction.
- Oversee event contracting, deposits, function details and operational handovers.
- Review post-event performance, guest feedback, rebooking opportunities and account development plans.
- Maintain accurate data within CRM, PMS and commercial systems to support forecasting and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, brand standards, data protection regulations, payment security procedures and health and safety requirements.

What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven leadership experience within a hotel, resort, country club or hospitality sales environment.
- Strong knowledge of hotel revenue streams including rooms, meetings and events, weddings, golf, leisure and food and beverage.
- Excellent commercial awareness with the ability to interpret sales, conversion and forecasting data and turn insights into action.
- Strong people management skills with a track record of coaching and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience using hotel PMS, CRM and event management systems including knowledge of Opera sales and catering.
- A highly organised and proactive approach with exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities whilst maintaining a strong focus on customer service and profitability.
- Flexibility to support key events, client appointments and business needs, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Working Hours
This is a full-time position working 40+ hours per week over 5 days, primarily Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the hospitality industry and the requirements of the business, flexibility is essential, and occasional weekend working will be required to support key events, client meetings and peak trading periods.
