Location: Manchester / Bolton
Salary: £66,000 - £90,000
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager - MEP to play a pivotal leadership role within a growing regional business. Working closely with the Regional Director, you will help drive commercial performance, support regional growth, and oversee the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of high-value M&E projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute leader to influence business strategy, lead commercial operations, and contribute to the expansion of a successful engineering operation across the North West.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial function across multiple M&E projects and programmes.
- Develop and implement regional commercial strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Manage revenue, margin, cash flow and overall cost control performance.
- Review and oversee project budgets, forecasts, Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and final accounts.
- Manage variations, compensation events, claims and contractual entitlements.
- Support major tenders, negotiated opportunities and pre-construction activities.
- Review contract terms and assess commercial and contractual risk profiles.
- Lead commercial negotiations and support dispute avoidance and resolution.
- Build, develop and mentor a high-performing commercial team.
- Work closely with operational leaders, clients and supply chain partners to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Ensure robust commercial governance, reporting and compliance across all projects.
- Drive continuous improvement in commercial processes and performance.

Essential Experience & Skills
- Significant experience in a senior commercial leadership role within an M&E or MEP contracting environment.
- Proven track record managing commercial performance across large-scale project portfolios.
- Strong understanding of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
- Experience managing project profitability, cash flow, forecasting and commercial reporting.
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing complex contractual matters, variations and claims.
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on project support.
- Strong analytical, organisational and decision-making abilities.
About You
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline.
- Extensive experience working within building services, M&E or engineering sectors.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop commercial teams.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Commercially driven with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
- Comfortable operating within a fast-paced and evolving business environment.
- Committed to delivering high standards of commercial governance and project performance.
