Salary Range: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum

Working within Automotive & Specialist Portfolio
The Automotive & Specialist Portfolio brings together a diverse collection of Haymarket brands, products and commercial opportunities across the automotive sector.
The portfolio includes FACE (Awards Sponsorship), CAT, Automotive Studio, Autocar Business, Motability’s Lifestyle magazine and Content Syndication, delivering advertising, events, sponsorship and content solutions for clients ranging from independent businesses to major international organisations.
The Role
The Commercial Manager will drive commercial growth across a broad and varied portfolio of Haymarket Automotive brands, products and commercial solutions. The role will identify and develop opportunities across advertising, awards sponsorship, events, content, studio services and syndication, creating flexible and tailored solutions that respond to different client needs and objectives.
Working collaboratively with Editorial, Client Success, Automotive Studio and operational teams, the Commercial Manager will ensure the portfolio receives dedicated commercial focus and that opportunities are developed and delivered effectively, supporting sustainable revenue growth and positive client outcomes.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio sales and commercial growth
- Proactively drive sales across the allocated portfolio of brands, products and commercial solutions, taking ownership of an individual revenue target.
- Proactively identify, develop and convert new business opportunities, while growing revenue from existing client relationships through repeat business, upselling and cross-selling.
- Identify and develop commercial opportunities through analysis of sales performance, client needs and relevant market trends.
- Develop tailored advertising, sponsorship, content, event, studio and syndication solutions that respond to different client objectives.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the portfolio’s brands, audiences, products and commercial propositions.
Client relationships
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients ranging from independent businesses to major international organisations.
- Develop a clear understanding of client objectives and use a consultative approach to recommend appropriate commercial solutions.
- Adapt communication, pitching and relationship-management styles to suit different clients and stakeholders.
- Maintain a high standard of client service throughout the development and delivery of commercial activity.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships and generate repeat business.
Commercial delivery
- Manage multiple concurrent opportunities, campaigns and priorities across the portfolio without compromising quality or the client experience.
- Work with external agencies and suppliers to support the effective delivery of campaigns within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Collaborate with relevant internal teams to resolve operational challenges and improve client outcomes.
- Ensure client requirements, agreed deliverables and commercial commitments are communicated clearly to the teams responsible for delivery.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client, sales activity, opportunity and pipeline information within Salesforce, supporting effective reporting and commercial decision-making.
- Monitor progress and address or escalate issues that may affect the successful delivery of client activity.
Collaboration and portfolio development
- Work collaboratively with Editorial, Client Success, Automotive Studio and operational teams to develop commercially effective client solutions.
- Share relevant client feedback, market insight and commercial information with internal stakeholders.
- Contribute ideas to improve existing propositions and identify new commercial opportunities across the portfolio.
- Represent the portfolio professionally in relevant client and internal meetings.

Key Relationships
The Commercial Manager - Portfolio Brands will report to and work closely with the Client Development Director to support commercial performance, identify growth opportunities and maintain an effective commercial focus across the portfolio.
The role will build strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, ranging from independent businesses to major international organisations, developing an understanding of their needs and recommending appropriate commercial solutions.
Internally, the Commercial Manager will work collaboratively with Editorial, Client Success, Automotive Studio and operational teams to develop client proposals, support effective campaign delivery and contribute to positive client outcomes.
The role will also manage relevant relationships with external agencies, suppliers and other delivery partners where required.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Knowledge
- Knowledge of B2B and B2C media within the publishing industry.
- Understanding of commercial sales principles and customer relationship management.
- Knowledge of digital marketing channels and commercial media solutions.
- Understanding of CRM systems and their role in managing client relationships, sales opportunities, pipelines and commercial reporting.
- Understanding of advertising, sponsorship, events, content and other relevant commercial propositions.
- Awareness of relevant automotive market trends, client needs and competitor activity.
- Understanding of how sales performance and market insight can be used to identify commercial opportunities.
Skills
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical thinking.
- Ability to understand client needs and develop appropriate, tailored commercial solutions.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills.

- Relevant experience of selling across a broad or varied portfolio of brands, products or commercial solutions.

- Experience identifying commercial opportunities and supporting business growth.
- Experience delivering commercial, marketing or operational projects.
