The team you'll be working with:
We’re looking for a Commercial Manager to join our Public Sector business at NTT DATA.
Working across the full commercial lifecycle, you’ll help us shape and deliver commercially sound, competitive deals – from early opportunity and bid activity through contracting and negotiation to the ongoing commercial management of live contracts.
You’ll work closely with Sales, Delivery, Legal, Finance, Pricing and Procurement, helping ensure that our commercial commitments are clear, risks are understood and the value agreed during the sales process is protected through delivery.
What you'll be doing:
- Support commercial activity across a portfolio of Public Sector customers, including:
- The commercial aspects of bids, proposals and new opportunities.
- Help structure deals so that pricing, scope, contractual risk and delivery assumptions are aligned and deliverable.
- Support the negotiation and approval of contracts, statements of work, changes and pricing models.
- Support and, where appropriate, lead negotiations with customers.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities and develop appropriate mitigations.
- Provide ongoing commercial support to Delivery teams, including contract interpretation, change control and issue resolution.
- Help manage variations, disputes and other post-contract commercial matters.
- Protect margin and revenue by identifying value leakage, cost exposure and revenue assurance issues.
- Ensure supplier arrangements appropriately reflect our commitments to customers.
- Provide clear, pragmatic commercial advice and constructive challenge to stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of commercial frameworks, pricing approaches and more innovative commercial models.
- Help improve commercial consistency, capability and ways of working across the Public Sector business.
What experience you'll bring:
- You’ll have around 2–5 years’ experience in commercial management, contract management, post-contract governance, deal support, legal operations or a related commercial role.
- We’re particularly interested in someone who brings:
- A good understanding of the end-to-end contract lifecycle, from bid and negotiation through to in-life contract management.
- Experience of contract terms, obligations, scope and change control, service levels, acceptance, dependencies, amendments and disputes.
- Good commercial and financial awareness, particularly around margin protection, value leakage, revenue assurance and cost exposure.
- The ability to interpret contractual terms and translate them into practical actions for the business.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to provide constructive commercial challenge.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple commercial priorities.
- A proactive, pragmatic and solutions-focused approach.
- Experience within IT services would be beneficial, as would experience working across multiple customers, projects or geographies.
- Experience with Salesforce, Power BI or contract management systems would also be useful. A commercial or contract management qualification, such as World Commerce & Contracting, NCMA or equivalent, is desirable rather than essential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
