Commercial and Performance Manager

Birmingham/Bristol/Edinburgh/Halifax

6 months contract

Salary from £83,000pa DOE, Day Rate via Umbrella Company also available

They are seeking a Commercial and Performance Manager to join the team on an initial 6 month contract with the potential to extend. You will be hybrid working being located at one of the above locations 2 days a week with the remainder of time working from home. This position is working Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week.

Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Management Consultancy Sourcing and Supplier Management team, supporting the oversight, optimisation and governance of a diverse consultancy supplier estate. The role focuses on managing a high volume of consultancy engagements, ensuring suppliers deliver against agreed outcomes while driving commercial value, stakeholder satisfaction and performance improvement.

As a Commercial & Performance Manager, you will manage a portfolio of consultancy engagements, building a strong understanding of stakeholder requirements, supplier performance and business priorities. Working closely with stakeholders and suppliers, you will identify opportunities, challenge scope, influence extension decisions and maximise value from consultancy services.

This is a highly visible role requiring strong stakeholder management, commercial awareness, analytical thinking and the ability to engage with senior leaders, suppliers and delivery teams. The position combines supplier management, contract oversight, performance monitoring and insight generation in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of consultancy engagements, monitoring delivery, performance and commercial outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to understand priorities, requirements and programme objectives.
  • Engage with suppliers to ensure delivery aligns with contractual commitments and business expectations.
  • Monitor a varied portfolio of live engagements, from short-term consultancy assignments to strategic programmes.
  • Analyse supplier and engagement data to identify trends, risks, opportunities and improvement actions.
  • Challenge and influence engagement scope, extensions and future demand.
  • Partner with sourcing and procurement colleagues to inform future commercial decisions.
  • Ensure contract compliance and understanding of key contractual obligations.
  • Identify and resolve performance issues, risks and remediation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate governance records, trackers and management information.
  • Share insights and best practice across the wider team.
  • Support the ongoing development of the supplier management function.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Experience managing supplier relationships, contracts, commercial performance or consultancy engagements.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to assess value and improve supplier outcomes.
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to identify trends and translate insight into actions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Experience working with contracts, statements of work or supplier agreements.
  • Confident communicator able to engage stakeholders, suppliers and delivery teams.
  • Experience operating in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

  • Experience within Financial Services or another regulated environment.
  • Exposure to sourcing, procurement or category management.
  • Experience with supplier, procurement or contract management systems such as Ariba.
