The Commercial Manager – Recruitment
The Commercial Manager – Recruitment is responsible for driving revenue growth across the company's portfolio of media brands, products and events, with a particular focus on recruitment advertising.
Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, the role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing existing client relationships and delivering commercially successful multi-platform advertising and recruitment solutions. Working closely with editorial colleagues, the Commercial Manager will help develop innovative commercial products and implement sales strategies that maximise revenue across recruitment advertising, content marketing, display advertising and sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities
Revenue Generation
- Deliver agreed revenue targets.
- Identify and secure new commercial opportunities across recruitment advertising, content marketing and event sponsorship.
- Develop strategic sales plans for key sectors, clients and markets.
- Build a strong pipeline of new business opportunities and maintain accurate sales forecasting.
- Maximise revenue opportunities across the full portfolio of products and services.

Account Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with advertisers, agencies, recruitment clients and commercial partners.
- Retain and grow key accounts through proactive account management and consultative selling.
- Create tailored commercial proposals that meet client objectives and budgets.
- Negotiate commercial agreements and secure long-term partnerships.
Commercial Development
- Work with the management team to identify and launch new revenue-generating products and initiatives.
- Support the development of content marketing, sponsorship and partnership opportunities.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer needs to identify opportunities for growth.
Collaboration and Leadership
- Ensure campaigns are delivered effectively and in line with client expectations.
- Provide regular commercial reporting, market intelligence and performance updates to senior management.
- Support the development of a positive, high-performing commercial culture across the business.
Person Specification
Essential
- Proven track record in media, advertising, recruitment advertising or B2B sales/ recruitment consultancy or professional services sales
- Strong new business development and account management skills.
- Demonstrable success in achieving and exceeding revenue targets.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Commercially aware, highly organised and results focused.
- Ability to build credibility and relationships with senior decision-makers.

Desirable
- Experience within publishing, trade media or digital media.
- Knowledge of recruitment advertising markets.
Key Performance Indicators
- Revenue performance against budget and prior year
- New business acquisition.
- Growth of existing accounts.
- Retention of key clients and commercial partners.
Success in the Role
Success in this role will be measured by the achievement of revenue targets, acquisition of new clients, growth and retention of existing accounts, expansion of recruitment advertising revenue, successful delivery of integrated commercial campaigns and effective pipeline management.
Working Conditions
Hybrid working requirement – office attendance weekly in East Kilbride
