About the role

We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic and organised Marketing Officer to join our Commercial Marketing team at the British Library. You will be working across a range of commercial services, from retail, publishing and membership, to catering, venue hire and digitisation.

  • You will use your campaign and planning experience to support the Marketing Manager in the development and reporting of major campaigns.
  • You will also take ownership of select projects, monitoring against defined objectives.
  • You will be adept at communication and be comfortable liaising with media buyers, creative and digital agencies and stakeholders across a range of commercial areas.
  • You will have a creative flair and be responsible for the planning, copywriting, production, and distribution of effective promotional materials, content and digital assets.
  • You will also work closely with our content co-ordinator on campaign and newsletter material.
  • You will keep data at the heart of everything, whether that's campaign planning or reporting results back to key stakeholders.
  • You will also monitor the budget for select campaigns, raising purchase orders and processing invoices as required.
  • Alongside other members of the Marketing team, you will also be a central point of contact for Library colleagues, suppliers and partners, as well as external marketing enquiries.
  • The post holder will work a minimum of three days in the office per week, dividing their time between the Marketing and Commercial Services teams, to enable effective working with our frontline teams who work on site five days per week.
  • On occasion the postholder may have to work out of office hours (for events, filming and other work) and from other Library locations.
  • The post holder will also visit, and may on occasion work from, the Library’s northern campus at Boston Spa, West Yorkshire, as necessary.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
