About The Role
As a Commercial Partner within the GBS Commercial Team, you will play a key role in supporting business growth and protecting commercial interests across BMT’s UK & Europe region. Acting as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for commercial matters, you will provide expert guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from bidding and contract negotiations through to successful delivery. You will draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including confidentiality agreements, customer and supplier contracts, tenders, proposals and teaming agreements. Working closely with both internal and external stakeholders, you will help resolve commercial issues, manage risk and ensure compliance with BMT’s governance framework and delegated authorities. The role also offers opportunities to engage directly with customers and suppliers, supporting the development of strong commercial relationships and enabling sustainable business growth.
About You
- You are a commercially minded professional with a law degree (or equivalent experience) and a strong understanding of contract management within a defence, government, or regulated environment.
- You have experience supporting bids, contract negotiations, and programme delivery, with the ability to identify commercial risks, develop practical solutions, and provide clear advice to stakeholders at all levels.
- Confident reviewing and drafting a wide range of agreements, you understand key contractual concepts, including intellectual property, export controls, cyber security requirements, liabilities, pricing mechanisms, and public sector procurement practices.
- You are highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining accurate records and governance standards.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills enable you to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Equally comfortable working independently or as part of a collaborative team, you are proactive, adaptable, and committed to promoting commercial best practice while supporting business growth and successful project delivery.
